Mid August is when we start to feel it; that urge to prepare for a season of excitement and the hope of memories still to be made in the woods and fields. Another full slate of fall hunting is just around the corner, and dove season is leading off with it’s annual Sept. 1 opener.
New for Oklahoma this year is a hunting and fishing license overhaul known as the Oklahoma Wildlife License Modernization Act, a bill that condenses some 50 hunting and fishing licenses down to about 14 and helps secure more funding for conservation. Note: In addition to a valid hunting license, migratory bird hunters must possess a valid Harvest Information Program permit, and waterfowlers must also have an Oklahoma waterfowl stamp and federal duck stamp (exemptions apply, so log in today to make sure you have what you need to Go Outdoors!). New for 2024, the adult nonresident 5-day hunting license is not valid for waterfowl hunting.
