In the highly competitive 9 mm striker-fired pistol market of 2025, the Tisas PX-9 Duty Comp stands out as a feature-rich, budget-friendly option without sacrificing performance. Manufactured by Tisas (Türkiye) and imported into the United States by SDS Arms, this pistol—a step up from the original PX-9 series—boasts enhancements tailored for duty, everyday carry (EDC), and competition.
Immediately when I opened the pistol case I knew this was an excellent bang for you buck. Gripping this firearm, it felt right in my hand. It was lightweight, ergonomic and screamed take for a test drive. We will get to that.
Let’s talk about some of the defining features of the PX-9 Duty Comp handgun. The compensated slide and barrel, engineered to mitigate “muzzle rise” and reduce felt recoil. Although its barrel measures just 4.11 inches—typical for a compact package—the compensator gives it the shootability of a full-size firearm. Even thought, most around know that I am not an optics on my handgun kind of guy, the PX-9 Duty Comp has that option if one leans that way. Equipped with an RMR-pattern optic cut and installed cover plate, the slide allows for easy mounting of red-dot sights, offering co-witnessing with the included Glock-pattern sights.

Now, let’s get down to performance. When I test a handgun at the range I focus on simplicity. I shoot center mass on my targets and I only do it from about 10 yards away. I want to see how the handgun performs, does it cycle properly, does have an excessive amount of recoil or or difficult sights, etc.
Author shooting the PX-9 Duty Comp
Shooting the PX-9 Duty Comp was an absolute pleasure. This handgun has the best out-of-the-box trigger that I have felt since I shot the PX-9 Carry a few years ago…and the Duty Comp version is better. With about a 3.5-4lb trigger pull the firearm allows for quick reset and stays on target with ease.
Very Accurate and the All Shots hitting center mass
I was shocked at how much the compensator really kept the muzzle of gun down and on target. It made the shots, in my opinion, more accurate and allowed me to have a faster target acquisition after each round was fired. I was using a standard 115 Grain 9mm FMJ and the Duty Comp ran it like butter.
I was able to get all rounds in center mass easily, and the PX-9 Duty Comp experienced zero malfunctions. Turkish manufacturing continues to impress me, and they truly have a jewel on their hands with this one. The Tisas PX-9 Duty Comp offers unmatched value in its class—packing features commonly found in higher-priced pistols into a sub-$550 package. Whether you’re seeking a reliable competition firearm, a duty-ready sidearm, or a capable EDC pistol, the Duty Comp delivers on ergonomics, control, and modularity. Its compensated design, optics-ready slide, and broad customization options speak directly to modern shooters’ diverse needs.
